In New York State, a Unique MSSP ACO Cares for Patients with Intellectual Disabilities

Duane Schielke, Executive Director of the Alliance for Integrated Care of New York, LLC (AICNY), was interviewed about the first and only MSSP ACO of its kind in the U.S., formed in 2014 to oversee the healthcare needs of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). Duane discusses HealthEC’s role in reducing unnecessary utilization of resources by risk-stratifying and identifying patients appropriate for targeted care interventions. AICNY’s work to improve overall population health is preparing the organization for value-based payments and the ability to manage upside and downside risk.
